BEST LAWYERS 2018 PHOENIX ARBITRATION LAWYER OF THE YEAR

Sherman has been named Phoenix Arbitration Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in America for the second time in the past three years. In between those two designations, he was selected 2017 Phoenix Mediation Lawyer of the Year.

SPRING CONFERENCE IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

The Section of Dispute Resolution of the American Bar Association will hold its 20th Annual Spring Conference at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C.on April 4-7, 2018. This years theme is "Dispute Resolution in Complex Times." For people interested in all topics related to dispute resolution, the ABA Dispute Resolution Spring Conference is always one of the best. There are multiple choices of workshops and programs every hour taught by experts . You can almost always find a program you are interested in. It is an opportunity to develop your skills and both learn from and network with many of the leading practitioners and academics in our field. I will be there and hope to see many of you in Washington this year.

STATE BAR CONVENTION

The ADR Section of the Arizona Bar Association will again be putting on a full day of programing at the Annual Convention at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass on June 28, 2018. The morning session will feature two experts from Creighton University who will conduct an interactive program on negotiation approaches, skills and techniques to help negotiators navigate the heart of a conflict.

The afternoon session will again be the popular ADR Talks format, featuring seven or eight highly experienced local practitioners who will each talk on an ADR topic they are particularly interested in for not more than 15 minutes each, followed by questions from the audience. Sherman will be talking about "Mediation Dynamics: Managing the Often Different Expectations of the Parties, the Lawyers, and the Mediator. To help him prepare for the presentation, he would like to hear from you about your expectations as a mediator or attorney for a party, and what you think your clients expectations are.
